It’s that time of year when homeschool families are purchasing school curriculum and planning school schedules. With today’s technology, more than ever, families are including homeschool software as part of their curriculum. It used to be, that homeschool software would consist mainly of games, with some educational elements; but today’s homeschool software offers a much wider variety of options from educational fun to traditional curriculum – and everything in between.

What many families find appealing about homeschool software is that it does some of the teaching for you.  While it does not replace the parents, of course;  it is nice to have at least a good educational game, or perhaps an entire curriculum subject, that can be taught via homeschool software.   We like to view homeschool software as another (multi-media) tool in your homeschool library to assist you in educating your children.

With every core curriculum subject available in a homeschool software format, as well as nearly every imaginable elective subject, one could homeschool almost entirely in a multi-media environment. This homeschooling style may suit your family well; but even if a modified version with only one or two subjects is a bit more to your liking, Homeschool Software Store can help you find what you need.

If you’re not sure where to begin with homeschool software, may we suggest the Oregon Trail History Learning System. Great for children ages 9 and up.

  • Walk in the footsteps of courageous pioneers; catch a glimpse of a sunset over Chimney Rock or explore Fort Laramie and ford the Platte River
  • Build decision-making and problem-solving skills as kids choose a wagon party and supplies, read maps, plan a route and guide their team
  • Develop solutions to help friends and family survive the dangers of the journey, including raging rivers, buffalo stampedes, sickness and starvation
  • Interact with more than 30 famous heroes like Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Paul Revere
  • Your child will learn American history, geography, social studies, map reading, managing a budget, problem solving and critical thinking

Our children have enjoyed The Oregon Trail software for several years, and we’re sure yours will too.  So get on the trail to learning with homeschool software.
